EFFECTS OF CAFFEINE
Do you need a cuppa before you can start the day? Click on the link above to find out about some of the effects of caffeine.

On average, a cup of Twinings black tea has about half the
caffeine of a cup of coffee (green, white and
Oolongteas also contain caffeine).
Most health organisations say that 'moderate caffeine
consumption' for adults is about 300mg a day. That works out to
about six cups of tea - more than enough for most tea-lovers.
As caffeine is a stimulant, many people find that a cup of tea
can perk them up. And research has suggested that one of the
effects of caffeine may be that it helps to reduce the risk of
dementia.
One disadvantage of caffeine is that it can inhibit the
absorption on iron in the body, but this is easy to get around
simply by avoiding drinking caffeinated drinks during and around
mealtimes. Otherwise, there are plenty of great-tasting
decaffeinated teas available - including Redbush,
which is actually made from a different plant altogether and is
naturally caffeine-free.
