Twinings Organic Standards
Twinings produce a great-tasting range of organic teas and infusions. They come with all the flavour and purity you'd expect from Twinings plus the peace of mind that goes with reduced use of chemical and pesticide growing methods.

The organic method brings you the best of the old and the new. It combines a sound understanding of modern soil science with traditional methods of growing and pest control. Many people maintain that they taste better too.

What does Organic mean?

The term 'organic' is defined by law. No product can make that claim without exhaustive verification. In the UK, the Soil Association is the body that certifies that Twinings organic teas and infusions meet the standard. Overseas, a number of international certification agencies check the methods used on each individual tea estate. The certification agencies pay regular visits to the estates to ensure the growing methods conform to stringent European guidelines.

Each stage of production, from seed planting through to packaging and distribution, is checked.

Nature and tea-production in harmony

Twinings source their organic teas from a handful of carefully-selected tea estates around the world. Each estate is an integral part of its unique local environment.

For example, The Korakundah Tea Estate in the Nilgiri Hills of southern India is typical of the partnership between organic tea-growers and nature. Here, the earthworms play as big a part in tea production as the estate workers. The mountain streams run clear; the hills are crowned with virgin forest; the fresh, unpolluted air rings to the sound of birdsong - and the tea tastes fantastic.
