Beat the Sugar Tax: Sugar-Free Drink Choices by Twinings

With the arrival of the sugar tax, there’s no better time to cut the sugar in your drinks and try some delicious, healthy alternatives.

The Sugar Tax came into effect on April 6th 2018, you may have noticed you’re now paying more for many high-sugar drinks, so there’s now another reason to consider how you can cut sugar in your diet.

We all know that having too much of the white stuff is not great for our bodies, but it is in so many products that even when we avoid adding it ourselves, we are often still consuming more than we should.

Cutting out excess sugar can help to reduce weight, balance sleeping patterns and help us generally feel better. A great place to start is by looking at the drinks you consume throughout the day and then find sugar-free replacements.

What Does Sugar-Free Mean?

There are plenty of products on the market today which claim to be sugar-free, but are in fact full of sweeteners, additives and ingredients we don’t recognise: aspartame, saccharin, xylitol? While generally considered safe, we’d rather keep things simple.

Did you know?

With the introduction of the Sugar Tax levy, drinks with more than 8g of sugar per 100ml of product will be taxed at a higher rate than drinks containing less sugar, or no sugar at all.

Teas are not affected by the Sugar Tax, so don’t worry about your morning cuppa.
