*If you are 6 months old, operating a kettle and pouring boiling water into mugs is definitely not something you should do. Maybe you could try sleeping through the night instead to give your mum a great start to the day?

How To Deploy The Amazing Twinings Tea Caddy

(Did we mention it was limited edition?!)

Preparation is everything

Sunday, 31st March

  • You tend to get up at 5:30 am on a Sunday morning? Whatever you do, don’t wake your mum. Ask daddy to play with you instead.
  • You usually allow yourself a more leisurely start to the day at weekends? Set yourself an alarm and head straight to the kitchen before your mum gets up.
  • Option A – make your mum a cup of Golden Tipped English Breakfast tea just the way she likes it, place it on a tray together with the Mother’s Day caddy and maybe some flowers in a vase. Gently wake your mum and serve her tea by the bedside.
  • Option B – cook up a storm, set the breakfast table beautifully and place the caddy near her plate for the perfect finishing touch.

Well done. You got your mum off to a great start and she can now enjoy lots more perfect cups of tea and be reminded of a really nice Sunday morning whenever she opens the tea cupboard and sees her pretty caddy on the shelf.

We’ve asked some Mother’s Day experts for their top tips for the perfect day

Here is what they said:

  • Being there with your mum on the day is the nicest thing. If you can’t make the weekend of the 31st of March, why not suggest an alternative Mother’s Day get together? - The 'Mum's Ultimate Treats Hamper' could be a nice little surprise to send her in the post!?
  • Something bought, something made – it’s nice to be spoilt with a pretty gift but a homemade card or a fun drawing are always lovely.
  • Whatever the surprise, make sure the kitchen is shiny and clean afterwards with no tidying up left to do for mummy.
  • If you want to take the family out for lunch at a nice pub, make sure you book in advance.
  • When your kids are older, a day out together doing something fun like going to a spa or booking afternoon tea in a nice location are just perfect.
  • Buy flowers from the shop, don’t raid the garden.
  • Take a few family photos with everyone.
  • A little bit of time for pampering on Mother’s Day is amazing – maybe an hour alone to soak in the bath and take time to get myself ready before going out (maybe you could clean my car for additional brownie points and extra peace and quiet inside the house?)

The geekie stuff: Did you know that Mothering Sunday is always the fourth Sunday in Lent? It falls on a different date each year because it is linked to Easter which is determined by the lunar calendar.
