Osmanthus Green - Caddy

Now: £10.00 Was: £20.00 sku LTSOCOG0515-125 | Net weight: 125g

Loose leaf green tea with osmanthus flowers

A wonderfully fragrant and floral green tea, made with tea leaves cultivated in the southern province of Yunnan and flowers from neighbouring Guangxi. Here, the subtropical climate and mountainous terrain nurture some of the world's sweetest and most delicate teas.

The top quality, very tippy green leaves are rolled into tight balls, before sweet yellow osmanthus flowers are added to the mix, allowing the wonderful floral scent to seep into the tea. The balls of tea then unfurl in your cup when infused. The liquor is clear pale gold, with a delicious aroma of peaches and apricots and a light, sweet and nutty flavour.

Approximately 30 servings.

Osmanthus Green tea is traditionally associated with love, weddings and marriage, and it just so happens that we’re bringing you this fantastic tea in a fantastic new Caddie tin set - making it the perfect gift for that special someone!

WHAT IS OSMANTHUS GREEN?

Osmanthus Green is a unique and beautiful tea, and it’s bound to impress friends and loved ones with its vibrant appearance and beautiful flavour. The tea is infused with the flowers of the Osmanthus plant, and it’s these flowers that create the sweet and abundantly aromatic scent found within.

The beautiful and balanced flavours found in Osmanthus Green mean that this tea can only be described as spectacular. The leaves of Osmanthus Green are very beautiful too - bright gold and yellow. With its appearance and delicate scent, it's a firm favourite for drinking and giving as a gift at weddings.

THE ORIGINS OF OSMANTHUS

Using flowers in tea dates back to the Ming Dynasty in China. During this time, Osmanthus flowers would have been mixed with white, green, black and oolong tea. It's probably one of the finest examples you'll ever see of flowers and tea leaves being used together.

As the Osmanthus tree is native to China (and because of their beautiful fragrance), they are popular in parks and gardens throughout the southeast of China, and the flowers are often used in Chinese cooking.

The flavour produced by the Osmanthus flowers has been likened to stone fruits such as apricot and peach, and if you’re a fan of jasmine tea, Osmanthus will make a really nice change for you.

PREPARING OSMANTHUS GREEN

Preparing this wonderful tea is a pleasure in itself, as you'll see how the Osmanthus flower - when brewing in the water - unfurls and comes to life. It's fascinating to see, and we're sure you're going to enjoy looking at it as much as you are drinking it.

For best results use clean, fresh water and - once boiled - allow it to cool for a few minutes. If using a teapot then use one teaspoon of the tea per person (and one for the pot if you prefer it stronger).

Let the tea brew for a little bit longer than a normal black tea - about four minutes. This gives the tea enough time to fully release all those fabulous sweet flavours and aromas.
