Flavoured Darjeeling Tea

Tea from Darjeeling is some of the most sought after in the entire world. It’s grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, and it’s this region that gives Darjeeling tea it’s distinctly light and delicate flavour. The name Darjeeling translates as “land of the thunderbolt” which is due to the heavy monsoon seasons which are caused by the elevated land and high humidity. 

It’s these environmental factors that lend Darjeeling its fantastic flavour; the golden colour and floral aroma evokes grassy notes, chopped herbs and a subtle sweetness - no wonder it’s the world’s favourite.

Picture the rolling lower hills of the Himalayas and the crisp mountain air that surrounds the Darjeeling tea plant as you sit back and sip on a cup of this delicious tea. 

Blended with the great taste of Darjeeling, we have the welcoming flavour of elderflower, mixed with marigold and pink cornflower blossoms. The combination of delicate floral notes with the fragrant Darjeeling black tea creates a subtle, refreshing flavour that is distinctive to Twinings. 


You may have heard before that tea really is best served loose, and we have to agree. A cup made from loose tea leaves is just that next level experience that truly brings out the full flavour of the tea as it was intended to be enjoyed.

High quality loose teas, such as those found in Elderflower and Blossom Darjeeling, are made by following the same stages of hand-picking the finest buds and whole leaves. Much like a fine wine, extra care has been taken to make it, resulting in a tea that keeps hold of its distinct quality, flavour and characteristics.

If you’re not used to drinking loose tea, or are looking for some tips on how your brewing method could enhance the natural flavours further, here’s how we prepare our Elderflower & Blossom Darjeeling at Twinings:

1. Use fresh, clean water to help develop the flavour

2. Warm the pot or infuser first with a spot of boiled water

3. Use one heaped teaspoon of loose tea per person and one for the pot

4. We recommend that you allow loose tea to brew for up to seven minutes. The general rule is that the larger the leaf, the longer the brewing time and the best times are advised on our packaging.

Elderflower and Blossom Darjeeling should typically be enjoyed without adding milk or sugar, but this is, of course, down to your own personal preference.
