Glow Through the Festive Season - Winter Wellbeing Guide

Welcome to Christmas with Twinings. As we count down the days to Christmas, we’re here to help you look and feel your best.

Our Christmas advent calendar is not only filled with delicious teas that are perfect for keeping you cosy and warm this season, but we’ve hidden 10 QR codes. Each unlocks something different, starting with our winter wellbeing guide to help you glow through the festive season.

1. Protect Your Skin

Winter can be a harsh time of year on your skin. Cold winter air can strip your skin of its natural moisture, leading to dryness, flakiness, and even irritation. Be sure to moisturise daily, and don’t forget to use SPF; even when the sun can’t be seen or felt, you still need to protect against it.

2. Immunity Boost

With winter comes seasonal bugs, and our bodies can find it hard to battle against them. Be sure to keep your immune system fighting fit. Boost it with fruit and vegetables and plenty of vitamin C-rich foods like citrus fruits and berries.

3. Hydrate to Radiate

Staying hydrated when it's cold outside can sometimes feel like a chore, but it's super important for your health and to keep your skin looking its best. The good news is, you don't have to stick to plain old water. Our herbal teas are a great source of hydration. Brew them hot and enjoy the warmth when you’re feeling chilly, or why not brew hot and serve over ice for a real hit of refreshment?

4. Skincare Rituals

This time of year is a great time to adopt a different type of skincare routine. Add a level of exfoliation, but keep it gentle and mild. This will help your moisturiser penetrate more effectively and leave your skin glowing even in the coldest months.

Why not incorporate a cup of Glow into your morning skincare routine? The perfect brew to help brighten up your day.

5. Sleep Well

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the season, don't neglect your sleep. Aim for around 8 hours of sleep each night to ensure you feel bright and breezy for the day ahead. With the darker and colder nights, it’s a great time to adopt a new nighttime routine, unwinding with a relaxing bath, a good book, and a cup of herbal tea to ease you into a peaceful night's sleep.

Try a soothing cup of sleep tea as part of your nighttime routine. Choose from spiced apple and camomile or valerian and orange blossom for your bedtime brew.

6. Take Time for Yourself

The run-up to Christmas and the days between are often frantic and fast-paced. Christmas parties, shopping, festive indulgence, and often a lot of time spent with family and friends can leave you feeling burnt out. Schedule in a few hours or days to help you relax and rejuvenate. Even a few quiet moments with a comforting cup of tea can work wonders for your overall wellbeing.

7. Energy Boost

The mix of chilly weather, less daylight, and added indulgence can leave you feeling sluggish. Consider incorporating some energy-boosting treats and snacks into your winter routine, such as these rejuvenating energy balls. They can be a real pick-me-up and help keep energy levels going throughout the season.

8. Deep Breaths for Instant Calm

From busy Christmas parties to hosting family and friends, when the holiday season kicks into full swing, it’s important you have some tools to help you feel instantly calm. Take a moment to practice deep breathing.

Inhale slowly through your nose, counting to four, hold your breath for a count of four, and then exhale through your mouth for another count of four. Deep breaths like these can quickly create a sense of calm, allowing you to enjoy the winter season with a clear mind.

Why not add a calming cup of Soulful Blends Pause to your moment of calm? You could even try this soothing tea meditation.

9. Winter Walks

Don't let the chilly weather keep you indoors. Winter walks can be invigorating and rejuvenating and help you to stay active over the festive period. Bundle up, bring a thermos with your favourite tea blend, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the winter.

10. Mindful Moments

Amidst the festive chaos, remember to take time for reflection. Make sure to take some time to really savour the season. Whether that’s a bit of yoga in the morning before everyone in the house wakes up, an evening meditation before you go to bed, or a few deep breaths before you serve up Christmas dinner, combat the overwhelm with some mindful moments.

Don’t forget to scan the other QR codes in your advent calendar for more tips, treats and festive surprises.
