The Art of the Bottomless Brunch

Seeing as staying in is officially the new going out, what better way to kick-start the weekend than with a bottomless brunch in the comfort of your own home? Bottomless mocktails, pancakes, eggs, and avocado, when it comes to creating your own bottomless brunch the great thing about the rules is… there are no rules!

Except that it should be indulgent, tasty, and there should be plenty of everything! Here are our top tips for recreating that bottomless brunch experience at home.

The Art of the Bottomless Brunch

Style & Substance

First up, invites! Before any good at-home-event, make sure you send out invites. Websites such as Canva and Paperless Post are a great way to design a digital invite for little to no cost at all! Plus, they have plenty of designs if you’re thinking of theming your brunch - perfect if you’re planning a brunch for a hen party, baby shower, or birthday.

Around the Table

When it comes to setting the table, a good brunch should feel calm and casual. Florals are always a good way to create a relaxed affair, from classic and simple with plain linen and napkins to a pretty bunch of flowers divided up into little vases and jugs.

Another simple, cheap, and effective way to decorate your table is with some foraged foliage from the garden, scattered along a table runner.

The best kinds of brunches are the ones where everything is laid out (we eat with our eyes first!) so people can help themselves. From the tea and coffee to the condiments and savoury treats, make your life easy as the host and let your guests do the serving.

What’s on the Menu?

Brunch is essentially a great excuse for all kinds of delicious breakfast foods to be eaten at a sociable hour.

All brunch should, of course, start with a mocktail. Our pink lemonade (complete with our Raspberry and Lemon tea) is a pretty take on a classic (and could be made with just a little kick by adding 25ml of vodka!). Swap your classic orange juice for blood oranges, and when making mocktails, choose a garnish to finish off each drink. Try a little twist of orange or lemon, a sprig of mint or rosemary, or even raspberry or strawberry in your no-secco!

If you’re looking for ways to elevate the every day why not add a dash of fun with a pimp your mimosa bar? Loaded with cordials and fruit that bring a little something extra to glasses of lemonade, sparkling water (or even champagne).

Follow your intro drinks with whatever kind of brunch food takes your fancy! This is a chance to go all-out with flavours and recipes because, as we said before, anything goes. Pancakes and waffles are the ultimate sweet-toothed-brunchers-delight! From blackcurrant and blueberry pancakes to these delicious vegan raspberry waffles or how about some seriously decadent Earl Grey french toast?!

Raise a Toast

If savoury is more yours and your guests' style then anything on toast is always a hit. Ideal if your culinary skills are lacking or you just don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen. A delicious loaf of sourdough from your local bakery and several ingredients such as tomatoes, basil and garlic for bruschetta, classic eggs and avocado on toast, or how about some good old fashioned french toast with a strawberry compote?! These kinds of toppings can be made up in advance, so there’s no slaving away for hours in the kitchen.

For a healthy and vegetarian option why not try a rich Shakshuka - great with pieces of bread that you can share, tear and dunk in! It really is the ultimate in brunch-style dining.

And of course, no brunch would be complete without plenty of breakfast tea! A strong English Breakfast to see you through the day.

French toast with berries

Whether it’s for a hen party, a birthday, a baby shower, or just your average Saturday… Bottomless brunch is a great way to relax and settle into the weekend over endless breakfast food, refreshing drinks, and a good chat!
